As a Person Centred therapist, I work in a non-directive, non-analytical and flexible way, prioritising my client’s needs and work at a pace that suits them. My working methods include talking therapy, play and creative therapy, such drawing and painting and practicing mindfulness and relaxation techniques.
Counselling for children
I have extensive experience of counselling young people (aged 11 to 18) gained from my days of volunteering with Way In in Chesham, as part of Time to Talk Bucks to currently working as a school counsellor in a large mixed secondary school.
I work with young people in an open-ended, flexible and safe way. I am able to receive referrals from both the young person as well as their Parents/Carers and I have a clean DBS and my safeguarding training is up to date.
Counselling for adults
Along side my work with young people I work with adults from 18 years + and have gained my experience from my volunteering days at both Harrow Bereavement Care and Mind (Herts Minds Network), as well as my private work. I work both open-ended and session limited in accordance with the clients’ needs. I aim to provide my clients with:
-
a supportive and collaborative space, encouraging self-awareness;
-
an opportunity to discuss and reflect on issues which have brought them to therapy;
-
a chance to identify areas they wish to explore for further development and support them as they move forward.
Family counselling
I am trained in family therapy and I am able offer sessions for families who are struggling with their home life.
Family therapy can support communication skills and links between the family members to be re-established, through helping family members to gain a deeper understanding and empathy of each other, as the therapy setting encourages the family to listen with the intent to understand, not to defend to respond, and to do so without judgement of each other.
Family therapy is typically not long term; it is often used to help a family through a difficult period, or coming to terms with a big change in their lives, such as illness, bereavement, divorce or a job loss. However, it can also be used to support families where there are mental health or behaviours issues affecting them. <<Click here to make an enquiry>>
